The Sunday Stiletto

Sarah is a native Floridian and a cradle United Methodist. She was born, raised, and educated in Lakeland, Florida. She and her husband, Andrew, are high school sweethearts. They met through the music programs of their home church, First United Methodist Church, in Lakeland. They were engaged on December 23, 2004 and married two years later to the date because Andrew wanted December 23 to be their anniversary.

Sarah and Andrew graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland in 2007 and then moved to Atlanta to pursue their seminary educations at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. They finished their degrees in 2010 and Sarah received her first pastoral appointment in Florida. Andrew served as the Director of Metro Atlanta Project in Atlanta from 2010–2011 and then joined Sarah in Florida to serve as the Director of Senior High Youth Ministries at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando from 2011–2015. In June 2015 Andrew received his first pastoral appointment serving Monteverde UMC in Monteverde. In June 2016 Andrew began his pastoral ministry with Azalea Park UMC in Orlando.

Sarah served as an Associate Pastor at New Horizon Church, a United Methodist Congregation in the Haines City / Davenport area for two years and as the Senior Pastor at Reeves Memorial United Methodist Church in Orlando for two years before her appointment to Tuskawilla.

Sarah and Andrew welcomed their first child, Joshua Emory Andrew, on October 22, 2017. Joshua proves to be a wonderful teacher to both Sarah and Andrew. They are grateful each day to nurture him with love and care. The Miller Three also have two miniature Schnauzers, Samson and Tala. The pups love to play in the parsonage’s back yard, bark at the neighbors, receive head-scratches, and take sunset strolls in the neighborhood.

Sarah looks forward to meeting you and partnering with you as together Tuskawilla extends its intergenerational ministry and witness further into the neighboring community. Sarah is praying for you and hopes to connect with you soon.

Amusing Answers from Sarah about Sarah:

Favorite lunch? Leftovers!

Would you ever bungee jump? Absolutely not! I am terrified of heights and I do not like the “stomach in your throat” feeling. But if you would like to bungee jump, I will happily wait for you at the bottom, hold your stuff, and eat a funnel cake.

Favorite cereal? Frosted Shredded Wheat for the win!

Mountain Hideaway or Beach House? Mountain Hideaway – the beach is right around the corner.

Favorite smells? Pumpkin pie spice, balsam, and many of the Burberry men's fragrances.

What is the farthest you’ve been from home? To the south – Costa Rica. To the North – Maine. To the East – Nepal. To the West – Hawaii.

Favorite sport? Football. Go Packers!!

Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? Most of my shoes lack laces. I’m easy to spot… I’m the one in sandals or stilettos!
