A Thousand Words

Submit a Prayer

As followers of one who easily and gladly welcomed children, tax collectors, lepers, prostitutes, Samaritans and indeed, sinners of all sorts into his fellowship - how can we not do likewise?  He even assured us: "Just as you do it to one of the least of these, you do it for me."  (Matthew 25:40)  So how can we ever allow our congregations to be closed gatherings of like-minded, like-acting, like-looking and like-living persons?  The book of Acts is the story of how the Spirit bulldozed down every dividing social, ethnic and religious wall separating people from one another.  "You are all [children] of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.  There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."  (Galatians 3:27-28)
