TUMC Serves

A great way to strengthen your faith and grow in your relationship with God and others is through service. We invite your participation in all our service opportunities within and beyond the church including:

Rethink Homelessness–Apartment Starter Kit Mission

Central Florida Commission on Homelessness has initiated a housing-first approach to resolve the homeless situation in Seminole, Orange, and Osceola counties. The Commission provides subsidized apartment housing for Veteran, Disabled, and Chronic homeless individuals who qualify for assistance. In addition the Commission provides social services as needed for the recipients to insure they have a second chance to become productive in the community. Since initiation of the program, 339 recipients have received homes and greater than 98% of those are thriving in their new home environment. Tuskawilla United Methodist Church supports this effort by compiling and delivering Apartment Starter kits that include a TV, microwave, lamps, bed sheets, blankets, towels, dishes, cookware, and occasionally furniture items such as a couch, table, chairs, or dresser. The church has donated 13 of the kits and will continue to provide until homelessness in our area becomes nearly non-existent.

Red Bag Program

Pumpkin Patch

Our front field is home to over 7000 pumpkins during the month of October for TUMC’s Annual Fundraiser. Servants in the Pumpkin Patch offer hospitality to Patch Guests and help them select their special Little Orange Friend to enjoy at home.

Vacation Bible School

is a fun-filled week of Bible stories, crafts, games, and worship for children ages 4 through 5th grade. Servants at VBS teach and shepherd children through activity rotations and affirm in each child that they are special and beloved in the eyes of God.

Children’s and Youth Ministry Servants

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs” (Lk 18:16). Servants with our Children and Youth Ministries welcome these precious ones in the name of Jesus and offer mentoring and support as teachers and encouragers on weekly and or special event basis.

Sanctuary Choir Singer

Servants in the Sanctuary Choir (High school age through adults) gather for weekly rehearsals on Thursday evenings in the Choir Room from 6:30–8:30 p.m. to prepare the worship gifts they will offer in praise of God during TUMC’s weekly 11:00 a.m. service. Servants gather for warm-ups on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. All voice parts and singing experience are welcome!

Hospitality Ministry Servants

Servants with our Hospitality Ministry provide and host refreshments for TUMC’s weekly services and special receptions. Servants are encouraged to serve in a pair or on a team.

Relay for Life Supporter

Servants on TUMC’s Relay for Life Team raise funds for the American Cancer Society and participate in the annual May relay in our community. On Relay Day servants offer hospitality and engage in fellowship with cancer survivors, care givers, family members, and friends. Cancer touches every life—every family—in some way, and we believe our servants at Relay for Life bring a bold message of hope—of health, life, and resurrection.

Easter Egg Hunt

Servants with our Annual Easter Egg Hunt provide candy and small toy donations for our eggs and hide the eggs on the day of our hunt. This is a wonderful way to begin TUMC’s Annual Holy Week Activities as we prepare for the celebration of Easter.
